Blast resistant shutters are not a standard product category. They are a certified engineering solution — and the certification is what separates a shutter that claims blast resistance from one that has been tested and proven under EN 13123-2. CBX manufactures the only rolling shutter in the world certified to EXR5-NS under EN 13123-2:2004. It is manufactured in Spain, supplied to security integrators and project developers across Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, and globally, and delivered with full certification documentation for every project.

Who Specifies Blast Resistant Shutters

Security integrators, architects, and procurement teams specify blast resistant shutters for projects where the risk assessment includes explosion as a credible threat scenario. This includes government buildings, embassies and diplomatic compounds, military and defence facilities, petrochemical and energy infrastructure, financial institutions in high-risk environments, and critical infrastructure where an explosion event — whether accidental or deliberate — cannot be excluded from the threat model.

For these projects, a shutter described as blast resistant without independent certification documentation is not a viable specification. Procurement teams, compliance officers, and security consultants require test reports, CE marking, and traceability of the certified assembly. CBX provides complete certification documentation as standard for every blast resistant shutter project.

Diamond BL X-Treme — Certified Blast Resistant Roller Shutter

The Diamond BL X-Treme is the CBX model certified for blast resistance. It is available in three configurations depending on the combined threat profile of the installation.

The Diamond BL X-Treme baseline model provides RC6 anti-burglary resistance under EN 1627 — the highest classification available, tested against experienced attackers using advanced power tools for 50 minutes — combined with FB6-NS ballistic resistance under EN 1522, covering assault rifle ammunition including AK-47 7.62mm. Additional certifications include NIJ 0108.01 Level III and III-A and UL 752 Levels 3–7. Wind resistance is Class 5 under EN 12424, withstanding pressures above 1,000 Pa — relevant for coastal, elevated, or exposed installations across Europe and the Middle East.

The Diamond BL X-Treme Blast adds EXR5-NS explosion resistance under EN 13123-2:2004 to the full RC6 and FB6-NS specification. This is the configuration for projects where the threat assessment explicitly includes blast — embassies, military compounds, petrochemical facilities, and government buildings in high-risk geographies.

The Diamond BL X-Treme MAX combines the complete specification: RC6 anti-burglary, FB6-NS ballistic, EXR5-NS blast, E60 fire resistance under EN 1634, and Class 5 wind resistance. For projects requiring a single certified assembly covering all major physical threat scenarios, this is the relevant product.

The shutter is manufactured using high-strength extruded aluminum alloy 6063 T5 (Al, Mg, Si, Ti) in a double-wall 100×30 mm profile reinforced with ballistic material. Guides are 80×60 mm reinforced structural profiles with ballistic fill and nylon inserts requiring no lubrication. Maximum dimensions: 7,000 mm wide × 5,500 mm high. Weight: approximately 81.5 kg/m². Standard finish is high-resistance anodized with Cristal Silver anti-Molotov cocktail coating.

Motor configurations cover single-phase and three-phase tubular or lateral systems with voltage compatibility from 100–127V to 480–600V at 50–60 Hz, calculated for the specific weight and dimensions of each project. All systems integrate with access control platforms, alarm systems, and building management infrastructure.

Certifications — Continuously Developed and Updated

CBX maintains an active certification programme across its full product range. Certifications are not static documents — they are renewed, expanded, and updated as products are developed and as international security standards evolve. Every CBX blast resistant shutter supplied to a project comes with current, traceable certification documentation covering the specific model and configuration specified.

The certification portfolio covers European standards (EN 1522, EN 1627, EN 13123-2, EN 1634, EN 12424), North American standards (NIJ 0108.01, UL 752), and CE marking under EN 13241-1. For projects in specific regulatory environments — including GCC countries, Latin American markets, and US government procurement — CBX can provide the relevant documentation package on request.

Supply, Delivery and Project Support

CBX supplies blast resistant shutters for projects across Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Manufacturing is based in Spain. Logistics, lead times, and customs documentation for international shipments are managed as part of the project process — not as an afterthought.

For security integrators and project developers working across multiple geographies, CBX provides consistent product quality, consistent certification documentation, and consistent technical support regardless of the destination market. Post-installation support and warranty coverage are confirmed at the project quotation stage.

If you are specifying blast resistant shutters for a project — at tender stage, design development, or procurement — the starting point is the opening dimensions, the required certification level, and the country of installation.
